I went to see Hairspray today. Loved it! Just great, really really fun. Go.
Last weekend I went to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Also great. It reminded me that I hadn’t finished reading book 6 and that book 7 was on its way, so I’m catching up with the Hogwarts crew. Yes, I am a big kid at heart.
What else? Started a new job, but do not wish to talk about it. It’s temporary, I think. I’ll do a whole post on the subject soon. It’s prickly, and my mind is all higgledy-piggledy on the subject.
I discovered the show Extras with Ricky Gervais. So funny…that show really resonates with me, as an overweight 40-something who still wants to be an actor.
I like Queen Latifah a lot.
Held my first Mr. Oregon Bear event, Bearaoke, on Friday the 13th. It was fun, and a little cash was raised for charity. Doing it again in August.
Into the shower now, to get ready for the Bear Bust tonight. I believe we’ll be selling raffle tickets. Love doing those inseams!

Every once in awhile a guy comes along in the porn industry who just really takes your breath away with his looks and on-screen presence. And the fact that this gorgeous, smiling guy is sharing his sexuality so overtly makes him even more intriguing.
I really liked Kent North’s persona on film; so incredibly gorgeous and lusty and seemingly happy. He was definitely one of my favorites. I am extremely sad to read about his death.
Peace, beautiful.

It’s Big Brother 8!
In case you thought I was this totally deep person (Though I don’t know what would have given you that impression), I am here to shatter your image of me. I love BIG BROTHER, the CBS reality show wherein 14 strangers move into a house together and vote each other out, one by one. Their every move and every word is recorded and watched 24/7 and it fascinates and entertains me every season.
I’m not sure about this season, though. The cast is not that interesting, so far. It’s a pretty cookie-cutter group. They’re all about the same age, with the exception of Evil Dick, who is the father of one of the young blond girls, and Kail, the 38-year-old wealthy republican Christian. Of the straight guys, one is exceptionally good-looking and built (Nick), and Zach and Mike look so much alike that it’s sometimes hard to tell which is which. There are 2 gay guys who used to be lovers but are now bitter enemies, and a bunch of generic young women, the most interesting being Amber and Jameka. One guy, Eric, is “America’s Player” and we will supposedly be able to control his every move in the house by sending text messages. He seems like a real dork.
It’s the group dynamics thing that fascinates me so much about this show, and others like it (Survivor, etc.). What draws people into alliances with each other, what behavior repels the others in the house? What would it be like to navigate your way through this circumstance. It plays on my own social insecurities going all the way back through Junior High School.
Big Brother is always on 3 times a week, but this year they’ve added even more voyeurism opportunity by airing Big Brother After Dark which is on every night of the week for 3 hour on Showtime. It’s uncensored. I subscribed.
I just wish they would more interesting types of people in the house: Different ages and body types, really mix it up like the real world does. I’ll still be watching, though. I hope Joe gets voted out right away, I can’t stand that queen.

I did some math. That’s a statement you won’t hear from me very often.
Did some figuring, thinking, soul-searching and have come to the conclusion that I cannot take job that I’m supposed to start tomorrow.
It’s not based on fear or lack of desire to work. It’s simply that, after looking at numbers I had not looked at before, it would put me in the red to take this job. The difference between what I would be earning at the new job and what I earn by working part-time and keeping my disability income is only $165.00. The new job would cause my rent to go up $130/mo. Now I’m ahead only $35.00 Out of that $35, I would have to pay their insurance premiums and co-pays, which I don’t pay now. Then there’s all the extra gas to drive there. The 1pm - 9pm shift, which is basically the loss of all social life.
It just doesn’t make sense. It’s’ not gonna happen.
I’m a bit embarrassed, because I had announced with such drama and fanfare just a couple posts down from here…
But I’m closing that chapter before it starts. I never wanted to be a bill collector anyway! Bad karma, that.
