On Friday afternoon, the 29th of July, my mom called me. My father (well, stepfather…I call him father), who had been in the hospital for almost a month with meningitis, was being booted out of the hospital Saturday morning. They said he’d have to finish recovering at home, there was nothing more they could do for him.
The problem is (was?) that he was only at about 40% of his mental faculties and could hardly walk. While in the hospital, he was completley unable to talk, or understand what was going on. He was incontinent and could not walk. Antibiotics got him to a better place, but still not half of normal.
Since mom works a full-time M-F job, she was very worried about him being home alone during the day. And paying someone to come in was not feasable. SO…when she called on Friday and said “How soon can you get here”….I threw some clothes in a bag, ran around town to get a few things done (buy some poppers, quit my one-day-a-week porn clerk job), drugged my dog and jumped in the truck. I drove all night, straight through…10 hours.
SO that’s where I’ve been. It wasn’t until this past Friday that my mom bought a computer, a brand new e-machine, and got herself hooked up with high-speed cable internet access. Today was my first chance to read email, post here….do anything online! I’ve been dying, really having puter withdrawals.
Ahhhhhhh……..
Since she’s home on the weekends, I get those off. This past Saturday, I drove up to Guernville for Lazy Bear Weekend! I’ve always wanted to go. Now that I know what it is, I’ll plan it for next year. It’s a big camping trip/Bear circuit party. It was nice to get away from here for awhile, and see some gay people and have some sex. Wooooof to the guys at The Woods naked pool party!
So that’s all I have right now. Not sure how long I’m going to be here, but I can’t be here much longer. I love the folks, but they are ALL a bunch of Fundie Right-Wingers. Mom, Dad, Sister….and Sacramento is such a conservative place. Mom initially indicated that she wanted me to be here for most or all of August, but I don’t think that’ll be necessary. Now that he’s back in his own surroundings, dad seems to be a lot better. He’s back in his Archie Bunker chair, shaking his fist at the TV and watching endless hours of golf.
I’ve got to get home….
