I went to hear Thomas Frank, author of “What’s Wrong with Kansas” and his latest book, “The Wrecking Crew”, which is about how the republican party is intent on dismantling the US government. Very interesting, alarming, informative.
Walked into a local gay bar, Scandals, and found myself face to face with actor Udo Kier. I’ve seen lots of his movies and recognized him right away, but the context was so bizarre that I had to ask him…”aren’t you Udo Kier?” He nodded that he was. He seemed very shy. I got a chill just from seeing his face in person…he usually plays a vampire or some other sort of otherworldly being or bad guy. I’ll never forget him in Andy Warhol’s Blood for Dracula. I asked him what he was doing in Portland, he replied that he was in town to recieve an award from Portland resident Gus Van Sant.
I’ve got the moving bug again. Won’t talk about that much right now, cuz it’s waaaay off, if it does happen. I’m stuck in a lease until the end of January. I’m looking at Texas.
It’s been terribly hot here. Cooled off today, though.
My sex-drive is low. And I’m broke until Friday. Mood is fine, though. I’m enjoying the Olympics.

Always good to see you post sexy man! Moving bug, understandable as moving can give a new lease on life with new opportunities, but be careful…if you think it is hot in Portland….well…Texas? As you know I am more partial to Pacific NW having lived in Seattle before, and well and having other things happen there too…. I have never spent time in Portland though. Maybe one day. Big Furry Hug!

I met Udo once while I was in grad school. He was in Lawrence Kansas to visit William Burroughs. I was dating one of William’s 3 assistants and got to meet William on numerous occasions. One weekend we stayed in town since Udo was coming in to hang out with another one of the Assistants that he knew and to visit William about a project. We all go to go out and party on the town. We spent the evening talking a lot and he even asked me to dance a few times. Very shy and slightly strange.

Oh and BTW. We usually only have a a month or so of really hot weather. Rest of the time is pretty nice and only a couple months of cold weather. Maybe one or two ice storms during that time. Hurricanes? Only in Galveston and maybe once in a great while it hits Houston. We only get clouds and some rain in Dallas when one comes in. As for Texans? We’re not all like George W Bush. Dallas, Austin and Houston didn’t vote the SOB in the office. It was the rest of the state.
