Got this from Urspo who got it from someone else.

1. Name five songs you’re listening to right now.
2. For each song, name the memory or feeling that it evokes.
3. Tag three other people to play along. (I didn’t do this part, but I’d love to hear your 5 songs! I did, however, link to each song’s Youtube video so you can hear them. You’re welcome.)

Here goes:

A. Leona Lewis - “Bleeding Love” This is a new pop song from a young, new singer, who’s first album, Spirit, will be released in the US next month. It makes me feel young, and reminds me how much I love a good, catchy pop song. I’d have danced to this back in the day…and maybe I will in this day!

B. Five for Fighting - “Freedom Never Cries” Five for Fighting is really just one guy, John Ondrasik. This is a song about war and freedom. It moves me emotionally on a number of levels. It’s not a pro-war song, it’s a pro-soldier song. It’s from the album “Two Lights”, which I can’t stop listening to….the whole album is gorgeous and brilliant.

C. Sandi Patty - “Upon This RockI no longer consider myself a christian, but I do love Sandi Patty, and this song really soars. The orchestration is wonderful, and the final note she hits is stunning, make me want to Praise Jesus. It sounds great on my ipod. Reminds me of what I did love about going to church: The music. Also love her “Love in Any Language”.

D. Elton John - “The Bridge” - I love this song, I did a whole blog post about it. It’s a gorgeous piano ballad about growing older and keeping plugged in to life. Inspires me.

E. Wicked Original Broadway Cast - “Defying Gravity” - Stephen Schwartz writes great show tunes, and I love the whole score of Wicked, especially this song and “For Good”. Makes me recall the fun of performing great music live on stage.

So there you go. Sadly, I find I don’t listen to music as much as I used to….I listen to talk radio in the car, and have TV on when I’m at home. I still love the same music I did when I was a kid….Elton John, Barbra Streisand, and good musicals. When I was growing up, I was at odds with my contemporaries; They liked AC/DC, Blue Oyster Cult and so on…I was into Barbra, Elton, Barry Manilow and the Captain and Tennille. Later I became a big fan of Talking Heads and more innovative sounds. Frankie Goes to Hollywood and such.
